In a week’s time Round 1 will be done and dusted and the Essendon District Football League Division 2 season will be underway.

Our first game is against Northern Saints Football Club at Charles Mutton Reserve. Last season saw some entertaining games between the two clubs, full of attacking play and dash.

We won the first match by 32 points in round 4 away at Charles Mutton Reserve. The scores were level at half time but a 7 goals to 2 second half saw us win away from home. We will be looking to go there early in the season and achieve a similar result.

We played them away again in Round 12 and they reversed the early season result, beating us by 47 points.

In round 15 we were at home to the Saints but our season had already run out of puff after a difficult mid part of the season and we lost by 35 points.

With a completely new look forward line including superstar full forward Luke Capuano, Hadfield premiership star Osama Saad and the now un-retired Tumay Hamza goals should not be a problem. We also have a a re-modelled midfield led by 2015 Hadfield Premiership ruckman Ferras Merhi, Tommy McEwen on ball with skipper Harley Short and Jack Elliot. Our defense is again led by Adrian MacKinnon, Dale Rigby and Jamie Grant with the inclusions of Ben Stone and Brandon McLarty making it a strong back half.
