A message from senior coach Michael Farrelly

17 Sep 2018 by Roxburgh Park Football Club

Hi all!

Wow. What a game and what a weekend! Now that the season is officially completed, and the celebrations have mostly died down, I just wanted to take this moment to get out one final message.

Thankyou.

Thankyou for your encouragement. Thankyou for your cheers. Thankyou for your love, your unwavering support and being a part of this journey.

It’s been a long time coming for this club. A hell of a lot tears, sweat and blood have gone into this place. And I’m extremely happy and overjoyed to see this club have success.

To the people around the club each week, who cook meals, run the bar/canteen, and keep the place functioning behind the scenes – thankyou. A huge thankyou.

Shorty & Sedge – it’s been a steep first year as presidents, and to see what needs fixing, I know you need to find the holes in the ship first and what you guys have been working on over the year, compared to where we were, are, and where we’re going – it’s exciting. Be proud.

Every club needs a good backbone, especially onfield support. To the trainers, water boys, runners, umpire escorts, time keepers and so on that have helped each week – thankyou. Thankyou so much.

To my coaching team. Reserves & seniors. The banter, discussions and the genuine trust we’ve had with one another has been second to none. A lot more goes into training, culture and ‘picking teams’ than anyone will ever know, and you guys never turned away from a tough decision and was always willing to have an opinion and buy into a culture that would take the club forward. Thankyou. To my crew especially – Josh, H, Dave & Raff – a huge thankyou. ♥

To our sponsors – you are what holds us together. Without the glue, we fall apart. Clubs are very hard to run financially, and your willingness to support us and grow with us – I hope we done you proud, and we’ll strive to continue to do so.

Finally, to the boys. All levels – 19s, thirds, reserves and especially seniors, including the 44 players this year that pulled on a senior jumper throughout the year – thankyou.

You are the club. Any coach can set rules, dates, expectations, etc. But at the end of the day, it’s you guys who need to buy into that culture, make it your own and grow together. And the reward… 🏆🥉

You never gave up. You never gave in. You believed – and so the dream came true.

Roxburgh Park FC – Premiers.

2019 now presents a new challenge. Something the club has never seen before, and how bloody exciting is that! Our motto this year was ’We’re all in.’ And if we’re all in again next year, and we all stick together and want another challenge – together, we can continue to grow and hit it face on. But for now, celebrate, enjoy the moment.

Roxy FC Premiers! ⚫⚪⚫⚪🏆

Much love, Faz.
